Quiet Ground Studio
A concept service website for a slow-flow yoga studio in the Netherlands.
Project
Quiet Ground Studio is a concept project for a slow-flow yoga studio based in the Netherlands. The brief I set for myself was simple: design a website where someone could arrive at the end of a long and difficult day and feel at peace.
Most wellness websites describe calm without actually creating it. The challenge here was to make the design itself feel like the first step into the studio, before anyone has read a single word or booked a class.
Restraint as a principle
Restraint was the core design principle throughout. Every element that didn't contribute to a sense of calm was removed. The typography is generous and unhurried, the spacing deliberate, the imagery chosen for mood rather than information. The goal was a page that breathes.
Light and dark
The site includes a dark mode that shifts the entire experience into something quieter and more introspective. It felt right for a studio that is as much about internal stillness as physical movement. The two modes give visitors a different experience depending on how they arrive.
The instructor
The instructor page was given space to feel personal rather than professional. A yoga studio lives or dies on the relationship between teacher and student, and the design needed to communicate warmth and trust before anyone steps through the door.
The booking flow
The class schedule and booking flow were designed to feel as frictionless as possible. A studio like this attracts people who are already overwhelmed. The last thing the booking experience should do is add to that feeling.
